WHY KETONE SALT?

Considering all types of ketones and ketone precursors, ketone salts are the most optimal, especially for long term use. While medium chain triglycerides (MCT oil or powder) are technically not ketones (ketogenic precursors), they do induce mild ketosis, however, with increased dose most people experience gastrointestinal discomfort/diarrhea.

Another ketone precursor, such as 1,3-butanediol (technically not ketone), most of the time tastes awful and has to be broken down by your liver to make BHB ketones. Latest research shows that its long-term use can lead to damaging the liver. Similarly, ketone esters mostly taste horrible and can also put pressure on your liver if used regularly as these molecules are broken down by your liver similarly to alcohol. Higher doses may increase your insulin level. Recently the free acid form of BHB are often added to ketone drinks, however this molecule is very unstable and do not stay in the blood for too long, while it can increase acidity.

Ketone salts are two products in one: the BHB molecule is ready to be used for energy and does not put pressure on your liver + the BHB is bound to minerals, so you are getting a great source of electrolyte supplementation as well. WHY L-BHB?

A recent study shows an important aspect of D,L-BHB supplementation (racemic BHB), as L‐BHB concentrations increased extensively in the brain, heart, liver, and muscle tissues, whereas a less intense increase in D‐BHB was observed only in the heart and liver.
